About
Janak Shah is a photographer, educator, and storyteller with a deep interest in how images shape the way people see and understand the world. His work explores the evolving language of photography—ranging from the intimacy of personal moments to broader cultural and social narratives.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Janak grew up amidst the city’s energy, density, and constant motion. That restless rhythm continues to influence his vision—drawing him to details, fleeting gestures, and the unexpected beauty of everyday life. For him, every street corner holds a story, and patience often reveals the most powerful images.
As an educator, Janak is committed to sharing this journey—helping others discover photography not only as a technical craft but also as a way of questioning, documenting, and imagining. Teaching has allowed him to build dialogues around images, encouraging students and peers to look deeper, to ask why a photograph matters, and to recognize the stories contained within a frame.
This website brings together selected projects, from documentary series to personal works, each shaped by his desire to blend critical inquiry with visual storytelling. It stands as both an archive of past explorations and an invitation to future conversations.
